Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology is one of the prestigious Universities in the Northern part of Bangladesh offering Engineering and Technological education effectively. It was founded in 1964 as a faculty of Engineering under the University of Rajshahi providing four years Bachelor degree in Civil, Electrical and Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.

After a long struggle and movement, the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was established in 1987. Presently it consists of: School of Agriculture and Mineral Sciences: Forestry; Applied Sciences and Technology: Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Petroleum & Georesources Engineering, Tea Technology, Architecture; Physical Sciences: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics; Management and Business Administration: Business Administration; School of Social Sciences: Anthropology, Economics, Political Studies and Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, English, Bengali Language; School of Medical Sciences; School of Life Sciences: Biotechnology, Genetics.
