With the approval of the Ministry of Education under the Private University Act of 1992 and its amendment in 1998 the Daffodil Internatinal University came into being on 24th January 2002.The prime initiative of country\'s leading conglomerate Daffodil Group is Daffodil International University. The Department of Biochemistry (Dhaka University) was established in 1957 under the headship of Prof. Kamaluddin Ahmad and is a component department of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.Recently it is renamed as Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

The University of Dhaka has established the Department of Development Studies to provide challenging and innovative teaching in the field of development studies, a rapidly growing area of study concerned with the people, economy and society, and to foster high quality research on the problems of developing countries in general and Bangladesh in particular.

Dhaka International University is one of the non-government institutions of its kind in Bangladesh. It now operates as a government approved university under the Private University Act of 1992. The growing demand for professionals and the need for quality education provided the impetus for establishing Dhaka International University (DIU). On the first day of July 1921 the University of Dhaka opened its doors to students. Presently it consists of Department of Science, Business Studies, Social Science, Biological Science, Arts and Pharmacy. Also consists of many institutes and research centers under it. The University is at this moment one of the leading institutions of higher education in Asia.
