Royal University of Dhaka (RUD) is a non-profit, non-sectarian private university. It was established under the Private University Act, 1992 (amended in 1998). The first phase of the University project has three Faculties; Design and Technology, Fine and Performing Arts and Management and General Studies. The latter Faculty will eventually expand to include Life and Applied Sciences, where the following subjects will be offered; Nursing, Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Radiography, Nutrition and Dietetics, Chiropractics and Chinese Medicine. This Faculty will also extend its range of Management programmes to include specialisms in Consumer Behaviour, Retailing and E-Commerce. A Bachelor of Education degree is already offered, and it is expected that this area may grow to become a separate Faculty, training graduates in modern educational methods. It is hoped that our University will bring much needed higher education not only to female students, but also to Bangladesh as a whole.
