The Ministry of Labour & Employment has taken the present shape and status through different changes and development since independence. Considering the importance of employment for socio-economic development and poverty alleviation, the present government divided the Ministry of Labour & Manpower and created the present Ministry of Labour & Employment in December 2001. The objective of the Ministry of Labour & Employment is to alleviate poverty through creating employment opportunities for the poor, unemployed and unskilled labour force of the country.
