Government of the People\'s Republic Bangladesh(Bangladesh Government) - Ministry of Social Welfare Social Welfare Ministry), is one of the important ministries dealing with humane resource development, Poverty alleviation, Welfare-development and empowerment of the bypassed, disadvantaged segment o people.
The Ministry of Women Affairs was established in 1978 under the initiative of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, to fulfill government commitments toward women development. In the same year, women sector was for the first time included in the development program providing separate allocation for women sector under the Two Year Development Plan. In 1994, Government of Bangladesh reallocated works and responsibilities of the Ministry, which was renamed "Ministry of Women and Children Affairs". Bangladesh is one of the few countries in the world having a separate ministry for women and children.

In December 1978 the Ministry of Youth Sports (Sports Ministry) was created under a special gazette notification. In 1982, after the promulgation of the Martial Law, the Ministry of Youth & Sports was abolished and in its place the youth development Division was created under the Ministry of Labor and Manpower.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is the central authority for tax administration in Bangladesh. Administratively, it is under the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance (MoF). MoF has 3 Divisions, namely, the Finance Division the Internal Resources Division (IRD) and the Economic Relations Division (ERD). Each division is headed by a Secretary to the Government. Secretary, IRD is the ex-office Chairman of NBR.

Public Works Department under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works is the pioneer in construction arena of Bangladesh. Over about two centuries, Public Works Department (PWD) could successfully set the trend and standard in the country's infrastructure development. It plays a pivotal role in the implementation of government construction projects. It also undertakes projects for autonomous bodies as deposit works. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was established on 8th June, 1993 under the Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993. The Chairman and Members of the Commission are appointed by the government and have overall responsibility to administer securities legislation. The Commission, at present has three full time members, excluding the Chairman. The Commission is a statutory body and attached to the Ministry of Finance, Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh.
