Spandex is an indispensable functional fiber in the textile and fashion industries. In 2020, global spandex consumption exceeded a record 1 million tons, and the price per ton of spandex in early 2021 was as high as 80,000 yuan. Globally, a large number of waste blend fabrics containing spandex are simply incinerated and landfilled, making the recycling and reuse of spandex a major challenge for the fashion industry to promote sustainable development.
