Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) was founded with the object of bringing about a break-through in agricultural development to pave the way for achievement of self-sufficiency in food production. It was assigned with the specific task of procurement and supply of 'various agricultural inputs, viz, improved seeds, chemical fertilizers and irrigation equipment to the farmers.

The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) under the Ministry of Agriculture is at the apex of the national agricultural research system (NARS). It has the responsibility to strengthen the national agricultural research capability through planning and integration of resources. It is the umbrella under which the entire Bangladesh agricultural research effort is coordinated. This involved cooperative activities in several ministries of government: Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Fisheries and Livestock, Rural Development, Education, Industries, Commerce, Science and Technology, etc.

Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) was established in 1984 by a Presidential Ordinance. Mandates of the Institute are to: identify livestock and poultry production constraints at the national and farm level, solve those problems through multi and inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional research and to develop technologies to help food and nutrition security for the increasing population, poverty alleviation, employment opportunities, income generation and control of environmental pollution.

Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute - BFRI is an autonomous research organization and linked up administratively with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL), Government of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh. The overall research, training and management activities of the Institute are carried out in close cooperation and linkages with various national and international organizations/agencies. The Institute also keeps close contact with public extension organizations, different NGOs working in the country, for dissemination of technologies and obtaining feed-back from them.

Department of Fisheries is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. There is administrative set-up at national, division, district and Upazila levels headed by Deputy Director, District Fisheries Officer and Upazila Fisheries Officer respectively. Besides these, there are 3 fish inspection and quality control stations, Marine Fisheries Station, Fisheries Training Centres, Farms and Hatcheries.

Bangladesh ministry of Defence (MOD) is located at the Gonobhaban Complex, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. It is under the control of the Honorable Prime Minister.
